Color Grading for Mood
Color grading is the most impactful editing technique in my workflow. By adjusting the overall color palette of an image, I can completely change its emotional tone. Warm orange tones create intimacy, cool blue tones create mystery, and rich, saturated colors create vibrancy and energy.
I have developed signature color presets that give my content a consistent, recognizable look. When subscribers see my color palette, they immediately know it is my work.
Subtle Retouching
My approach to retouching is minimal and respectful of natural beauty. I correct temporary blemishes, even out lighting inconsistencies, and enhance existing features without fundamentally changing how I look. The goal is to present the best version of reality, not a fabricated fantasy.
Over-editing is a common mistake that makes content feel artificial and disconnected. Subscribers can tell when editing has gone too far, and they overwhelmingly prefer a natural, authentic look.
Enhancing Without Overdoing
The best edits are invisible. When someone looks at my finished content, they should think the photo is naturally stunning rather than obviously edited. This means subtle adjustments to exposure, contrast, and sharpness that enhance the image without screaming post-production.
Learning when to stop editing is just as important as learning how to edit. Sometimes the best thing you can do for a great photo is leave it almost exactly as it was captured.
